How can startup make the first physical product in order to film for crowdfunding? [Quora]

How… is fairly easy – the question should be why and what type of prototype do I need to be a cost effective solution to get our intended end result within our crowdfunding campaign?

I would first answer: “Does our physical product require a non-functioning prototype or a functioning prototype.”

The cost difference can be extreme however this depends on the complexity of the physical product.

A non-functional prototype showcase;

  • Form
  • Colour
  • Material
  • Finish

A functional prototype showcase;

  • Performance

There is the option to 3D Print a nonfunctional and functional prototype. Painting the 3D print can somewhat mimic the material, colour and finish. However once again depending on the complexity of the physical product it might be cost effective to obtain either a non-functional or functional prototype by prototyping from the real/actual raw materials.

I designed “The Alkemista Alcohol Infusion Vessel” – our far east manufacturer prototyped a crowdfunding functional prototype. We painted the 3D Printed Bottom Cap in ‘silver’ to look like stainless steel.

This is the final production product – as you can see there was vast improvements made once the product was validated and funded $107k+ on Kickstarter.

Another solution alongside a cost effective crowdfunding prototype is to utilize 3D Photo-realistic rendering and 3D Product Animation.

All we require from you is the physical product computer aided design files – if you don’t have them we can help you with Industrial-Product Design too.
